Grenada celebrates its Independence Day on February 7th every year. The day is a public holiday and is celebrated with parades and ceremonies. It marks Grenada’s independence from the United Kingdom in 1974. The island nation became an independent sovereign state and joined the Commonwealth of Nations. The 50th anniversary of Grenada’s independence was celebrated this year.
